More about marketing than tampons

There is this article in Salon.com today about a new brand of tampons I will be boycotting. I hate advertisers. These clowns put inspiring messages on their wrappers and then dispatch their President to say things like, "We don't consider Dittie a brand ... It's a movement. It's a culture of women coming together. It's a friend there in the bathroom with you."

Give me a fucking break, will you please? I mean, REALLY. A friend in the bathroom. Just please sell your product and get out. I really do not know how much more I can take. This so makes me want to puke in my pocket. I cannot understand how these people can take themselves so seriously and say these things with a straight face. Why are other products not subjected to such nonsense? A culture of women. I don't need a culture from you, I need a feminine product. God!

This reminds me of how with so-called "breast cancer awareness" (I know about it. It sucks.) everything is pink. I do not need everything to be pink to understand it. I do not need cutesy messages, pins, dolls, ribbons, keychains or tank tops. So patronizing.

(The other hateful thing about this brand is that when I mention it out loud I feel like I am talking about P. Diddy. Not good.)
